Nevill Holt Opera Wins RIBA National Award 2019

Having won three RIBA East Midlands Awards earlier this year, Nevill Holt Opera's beautiful 400-seat theatre has now been awarded a prestigious RIBA National Award. These awards are given to buildings across the UK recognised as being significant contributions to architecture.

The striking new 400 seat theatre at Nevill Holt Opera, hidden inside a historic courtyard, has won three RIBA East Midlands Awards 2019 including the RIBA award for Conservation, and the coveted Building of the Year award. Designed by Stirling Prize winning architects Witherford Watson Mann and theatre designers Sound Space Vision, built by Messenger BCR and supported by the David Ross Foundation, this incredible award underpins Nevill Holt Opera's commitment to delivering world class opera in a truly exceptional setting.

Handel's Berenice returns to Covent Garden in a new co-production by The Royal Opera and London Handel Festival, nearly 282 years after its 1737 premiere at the Covent Garden Theatre, a forerunner to the Royal Opera House. Staged in the Royal Opera House's Linbury Theatre, the West's End's newest and most intimate theatre, the new production is directed by Adele Thomas and sung in a new English translation by Selma Dimitrijevic.

BWW Review: EYAM, Shakespeare's Globe

Eyam, a place located in Derbyshire that has a law to its own. Isolated from the rest of the country, it has become a microcosm of anarchy, upheaval and deprivation. The villagers play by their own rules, shown quite clearly in the opening scenes with the hanging of their Reverend. Rallying together they tie a noose around his neck, watching as gravity does its job and crows of death circle above.

Shakespeare's Globe Announces Full Casting For Matt Hartley's New Play EYAM

Shakespeare's Globe has announced full casting for Matt Hartley's new play Eyam, directed by Adele Thomas, opening in The Globe on Saturday 15 September. When the plague arrives surprisingly in the Derbyshire village of Eyam in 1665, the community face a moral dilemma. They must decide whether to flee and risk spreading the vicious disease, or stay, protect others from the risk, and face the potential of their own slow and painful death.

Tobacco Factory Theatres to Stage A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE

A View From the Bridge is the second production in the inaugural Factory Company season at Tobacco Factory Theatres. Following Adele Thomas's dynamic production of Macbeth, the Factory Company will perform a new, in the round production of this dramatic family drama by Arthur Miller in the atmospheric Factory Theatre. The production will be directed by the theatre's Artistic Director Mike Tweddle in his first production for Tobacco Factory Theatres.

Tobacco Factory Theatres is delighted to announce the casting of its Factory Company - the resident professional ensemble that will perform new in-house productions of Shakespeare's Macbeth and Miller's A View From the Bridge at Tobacco Factory Theatres between February and May 2018. Andre Holland, Mark Rylance & More Join New Season at Shakespeare's Globe

Shakespeare's Globe is delighted to announce Michelle Terry's first season as Artistic Director. 2018's Shakespeare productions include Hamlet, As You Like It, The Two Noble Kinsmen, The Winter's Tale, Othello and Love's Labour's Lost. A premiere of three new plays, a national and international tour of Shakespeare and other performances on and off site are announced together with a year-long programme of events exploring the history and future of theatre censorship, as well as a series of events looking at race, refuge and refugees in relation to Shakespeare.
