Keen Company will continue its 23rd season with Crumbs from the Table of Joy by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage.

Jez Butterworth's masterful international Tony Award winning Best Play (2019) “The Ferryman” will run January 27-March 5, 2023 (opening February 4) – in the first United States production after Broadway – and the first in the newly renovated and renamed Conrad Prebys Theatre at the Dea Hurston New Village Arts Center.

The centerpiece of SCR's 2022-23 season, 'Voices of America,' runs Jan. 28-Feb. 26 on the Segerstrom Stage. It encompasses both plays. Each play will take the stage four times a week, alternating performances. On Saturdays and Sundays, both plays will run-one in the afternoon, the other in the evening. As the year draws to a close, Cara Joy David offers us a preview of some of the decisions facing the Administration Committee of the Tony Awards. We’ve also got good news out of Washington, as the NEA received increased funding in the most recent budget passed by Congress and a look at the uncertain future of Victory Gardens Theater.

By the end of December, there has traditionally been one meeting of the Tony Awards Administration Committee to determine Tony eligibility. This season there has yet to be a meeting, leaving open a big question: which plays will be revivals and which will be new.

South Coast Repertory Artistic Director David Ivers described “Voices of America” as “an experience nobody's ever had before.” Managing Director Paula Tomei called it “adventurous theatre.” And the rotating repertory of Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes and Appropriate by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins—fits both descriptions as they explore shared themes of family, history and legacy.

This January, Hedgerow Theatre Company kicks off its 100th Anniversary with a one-night only engagement performed by and directed by Hedgerow legends. Broadway favorite Austin Pendleton and Hedgerow's award-winning Artistic Director Emeritus Penelope Reed team up to perform a one-night only engagement of A.R. Gurney's Love Letters with celebrated director William Roudebush on Saturday, January 7 at 7 pm.
