Get Lit's DANTE Opens 7/6 at The Actors' Gang

The Actors' Gang presents DANTE, Get Lit's musical adaptation of Dante's Inferno, opening Saturday, July 8! Written by young poet Raul Herrera, adapted by Diane Luby Lane and directed by Cynthia Ettinger, DANTE will begin with 2 previews, July 6 and 7, and will continue for 10 performances only, July 8 - July 29, 2017.

Bootleg Theater Announces Final Schedule for HOPE FESTIVAL

BOOTLEG THEATER is thrilled to announce the Los Angeles premiere (second half of a rolling world premiere) of I CARRY YOUR HEART, written by Georgette Kelly and directed by Jessica Hanna (as part of the Hope & Optimism Initiative's "Hope On Stage" playwriting prize project (www.hopeoptimism.com). I CARRY YOUR HEART will preview on Thursday, May 18 at 7pm; will open on Friday, May 19 at 7pm and run through Saturday, June 10 at 7pm at the Bootleg Theater, 2220 Beverly Blvd. in Los Angeles.

Pulitzer-Winning Drama DISGRACED to Tour Universities, High Schools in China This Spring

The most produced play in America in 2015-16, Ayad Akhtar's Pulitzer-winning drama Disgraced will tour universities and high schools in China under the direction of Timothy Douglas from April 3 to 30, produced by Ping Pong Productions with grants from the Henry Luce Foundation and the U.S. Embassy in China as well as major support from Chinese hosts and other local partners.

The Pearl Extends World Premiere of Kate Hamill's VANITY FAIR

In response to popular demand, The Pearl Theatre Company extends the world premiere of Kate Hamill's Vanity Fair through Sunday, April 30.  Directed by Bedlam's Artistic Director, Eric Tucker, the production will now run from March 24 through April 30.

The Actors' Gang presents the U.S. Premiere of HARLEQUINO: ON TO FREEDOM

The Actors' Gang's new musical production of Harlequino: On to Freedom will have its U.S. Premiere in March, as part of the theater's 2017 Spring Season of Justice. Written and directed by Tim Robbins, the new musical combines Commedia dell'Arte, Shakespearean tragedy, live music and sophisticated comedy to produce a dialectic on the meaning of freedom.  The musical had its European Premiere at the Spoleto Festival, in Italy, and it subsequently toured to Shanghai and Beijing where it was censored by government officials.  Harlequino: On to Freedom begins previews Thursday, March 16, opens onSaturday, March 18 and runs through May 6, 2017, at The Actors' Gang Theatre, in Culver City. 

North Carolina Theatre Welcomes New President and CEO

The board of North Carolina Theatre, Raleigh's premiere, non-profit professional regional theatre announces the selection of Elizabeth Doran as the organization's new president and chief executive officer.

The Actors' Gang today announced a series of post-show talkbacks following the remaining performances of Lyrics From Lockdown, written and performed by Bryonn Bain and directed by Gina Belafonte, which is currently performing through Saturday, February 25, 2017 as part of The Actors' Gang Season of Justice at The Actors' Gang Theatre, 9070 Venice Blvd. in Culver City.   

The Wallis and Deaf West Theatre Join Forces Once Again for EDWARD ALBEE'S AT HOME AT THE ZOO

Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts and Deaf West Theatre (DWT), the performing arts organizations behind the Tony Award-nominated and Ovation Award-winning revival of Spring Awakening, reunite to bring multiple Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Edward Albee's At Home at the Zoo to life in an innovative and new production. Edward Albee's At Home at the Zoo begins previews on March 7 and will open in the Lovelace Studio Theater at The Wallis on Friday, March 10. It will run through March 26. This production is made possible by the generous support of Meeghan and Michael Nemeroff.

BWW Review: LYRICS FROM LOCKDOWN - One Man. One Mic. 40 Characters. Injustice Revealed.

The Actors' Gang is presenting the groundbreaking multimedia production LYRICS FROM LOCKDOWN, a solo show written and performed by Bryonn Bain and directed by Gina Belafonte, which tells Bryonn Bain's true story of racial profiling and wrongful incarceration at the hands of New York City police and how this experience led to a transformative friendship with death row inmate Nanon Williams. Bain weaves the voices of over 40 characters into an extraordinary, internationally acclaimed tour de force production featuring a live band, performing a fusion of hip hop, theater, spoken word, rhythm and blues, calypso and classical music, to tell Bain's story.
