BWW Review: An Excellent Experience of The Actors' Gang's THE EXONERATED

The Actors' Gang's Cynthia Ettinger ever so smoothly directs her very exceptional cast as they infuse life to six real-life, wrongly convicted death row survivors and the peripheral people besides them. Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen's script of THE EXONERATED vividly illustrates how these six people managed to find themselves at the crosshairs of the American criminal justice executioner.

BWW Interview: Paul Sand on Getting KURT WEILL On the Boards & Working Actors Off the Streets

Tony Award-winning actor Paul Sand took time out of his Sunday afternoon off to talk with BWW. He is currently putting on his third-ish re-incarnation of KURT WEILL AT THE CUTTLEFISH HOTEL at the Miles Memorial Playhouse. Inspiration for CUTTLEFISH initially hit Paul as he was walking on the Santa Monica Pier. 'Wouldn't Kurt Weill's nasty songs about murder and revenge and broken hearts be terrific down here?'

ONE OF THE NICE ONES to Premiere Next Month at Echo Theater Company

True to its LA Weekly-given moniker as "Best Bet for Ballsy Original Plays," Echo Theater Company's next offering is a cringe-worthy black comedy about sexual politics in the workplace that will leave audiences howling with laughter in spite of their better selves. Echo artistic director Chris Fields directs the world premiere of One of the Nice Ones by Erik Patterson for a July 16 opening at Atwater Village Theatre.

BWW Interview: Tim Robbins' Improving the World - One Play at a Time

Tim Robbins truly relishes the value and reach of theatre; and he persistently works to disseminate it throughout the world. We got a chance to talk with Tim, co-founder of The Actors' Gang and its current Artistic Director, the day after his latest directorial project ORWELL'S 1984 opened. See any of the productions Tim has directed and be challenged only not to be entertained, but thinking about what the play is saying.

BWW Review: The Actors' Gang Masterfully Transforms ORWELL'S 1984 into a Frighteningly Realistic Robbins' 2016

The Actors' Gang's Artistic Director Tim Robbins deftly directs his extremely talented cast as they fluidly impart the Orwellian tale of total Big Brother domination in ORWELL'S 1984. Originally viewed as sci-fi when written back in 1949, ORWELL'S 1984 complements as a fitting addition to The Actors' Gang's current Season of Justice. Michael Gene Sullivan has ever so smartly adapted George Orwell's novel into the present 21st century.
