GAVROCHE, a new musical based on Victor Hugo's novel, 'Les Misérables,' with book, music, and lyrics by Bonnie Gleicher, is having its California premiere at the Idyllwild Arts Academy. Idyllwild Arts' theatre department chair, Bonnie Carpenter, is directing the production, whose cast is made up entirely of Academy theatre arts students in grades ten through twelve. GAVROCHE will run from December 3rd-5th.

The 37th longest-running production in Broadway history, Pippin features music by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Roger Hinson (with additional material by Bob Fosse). The musical’s original 1972 production earned 11 Tony nominations, including nods for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Original Score.

After a year of darkened theaters Downtown, Pittsburgh's performing artists are stepping out into the light. During this unprecedented shutdown, they will begin an organizational restructuring in preparation for their 47th season. Producing Artistic Director Bari Newport said, 'It's been several weeks of very rapid and tough decision-making, but we remain laser-focused on the well-being of our theatre family, the community, and the success of the company.'

Parallel 45 Theatre and Interlochen Center for the Arts are embarking on their official partnership with a contemporary twist on L.M. Montgomery's beloved novel, Anne of Green Gables. Of Green Gables, an abstract exploration of the classic story, is directed by Parallel 45's Shelby Lewis and will feature Interlochen Arts Academy theatre students at Interlochen's Phoenix Theatre on Thursday, March 12; Friday, March 13; and Saturday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m., with an additional performance March 14 at 2 p.m. Admission is free and tickets are not needed.

Opera On The James presents a new production of Gioachino Rossini's comic masterpiece, Barber of Seville. Marco Nistico, the company's General Director, announced that tickets are now available for performances at 7pm on March 27th and 2pm on March 29th. The production will take place at the Historic Academy Theatre in downtown Lynchburg.

Opera On The James partners with Liberty University for a new production of Gian Carlo Menotti's Christmas masterpiece, Amahl and the Night Visitors. Marco Nistico, the company's General Director, announced that tickets are now available for performances at 2pm and at 4:30 on Sunday, December 8th at Lynchburg's Historic Academy Theatre.

Academy Theatre will be opening their 2019/2020 season with The Odd Couple by Neil Simon, directed by Lynna Schmidt. This will be the first mainstage production in the newly built proscenium-style theatre!
