The show that garnered 8 Carbonell Award Nominations and won two awards, for Holly Shunkey, (Best Leading Actress in a Musical) and AC Ciulla, (Best Choreography) returns to the theater that provided its World Premiere production, Caldwell Theatre Company.

The three-day event, which SoapNet calls 'A sequel of sorts to 2007's 'Prom Night: The Musical,' is entitled 'Starr X'd Lovers' and features numbers from The Black Eyed Peas, among other famous artists. The broadcast will feature One Life to Live regulars, in addition to Broadway's Jason Tam, who was recently seen as 'Paul' in the revival of A Chorus Line, in two numbers. He has also appeared on Broadway in Les Miserables.

The 34th annual Carbonell Awards, South Florida's oldest and most prestigious arts honors, were bestowed in a ceremony at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in a benefit performance which raises scholarships for South Florida arts students.
Les Miserables at Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables led the pack with a dozen nominations. Broadsword at Miami's Mad Cat Theatre Company and Why Torture is Wrong and the People Who Love Them at Plantation's Mosaic Theatre tied with five nods each as the most recognized plays for the annual honors to be held on Monday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale.
2009 could go down as the year of the musical with seven of the top 10 nominated shows edging out the edgier dramas for the 34th annual Carbonell Awards nominations celebrating the best shows and performances in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Broadway Artists Alliance, the dynamic not-for-profit educational organization that is quickly gaining a reputation for ensuring the future of great Broadway talent by bringing together Broadway artists and promising young performers, presented their annual Winter Musical Theatre Workshop February 14th through 16th. Michael Cerveris, currently starring in Hedda Gabler, surprised the students with a visit. Seth Rudetsky moderated the Q&A.
