Wooden Shjips Share New Single RED LINE from V, First New Album In 5 Years

Wooden Shjips have shared “Red Line,” the second single from their upcoming album V., out May 25th on Thrill Jockey. The quartet is the backbone of the psychedelic scene in the 21st century, consistently updating the expansive sounds of the classic West Coast progenitors for the new era. “Red Line” is indicative of the band's direction on V., which shows the group shedding darker tones for brightness and optimism, firmly in opposition to the growing clouds of dread that permeate life in America in 2018. A major key riff anchors the track as swirls of overlapping delayed guitars offer an ecstatic release. As the last vestiges of winter recede Wooden Shjips give us the perfect soundtrack to the emerging summer.

BWW Review: South Coast Repertory Stages World Premiere of SHREW!

How do you "fix" the misogyny of Shakespeare's now antiquated THE TAMING OF THE SHREW? That is the premise of South Coast Repertory's latest World Premiere production SHREW!-which continues performances in Costa Mesa through April 21. The results? A funny but flawed update with good intentions.
