For decades, the Afghanistan we know from the news has been a country of war, unspeakable violence, and the goings-on of an intractable band of fundamentalists set on taking its culture back centuries. It's hard to imagine it as a place where everyday life also included music, a wide variety of music ranging from folk and pop songs to the rich, high-flowing poetry of ghazals.

Keen Company's World Premiere of the new comedy This Space Between Us by Peter Gil-Sheridan (The Rafa Play), directed by Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein, will begin its final two weeks. PlayWell Productions, Team Angelica and Epicene today announce the full cast for Very Special Guest Star which opens at Omnibus Theatre on 25 November, with previews from 23 November, and runs until 12 December.

Every time the curtain goes up on a Gecko show, there is a settling in period in which we have to get the audience on board. My instinct with the film was that I needed to solve this settling in period even quicker than on stage.

Danielle Brooks and John Keating have been selected to receive the 2019 Joe A. Callaway Award presented by the Actors' Equity Foundation. In a production commissioned by the Finborough Theatre, St John Ervine's 1913 drama Jane Clegg opens at the Finborough Theatre for a four-week limited season on Tuesday, 23 April 2019 (Press Nights: Thursday, 25 April 2019 and Friday, 26 April 2019 at 7.30pm).

For more than a century the world-renowned St. Olaf Choir has set a gold standard for choral singing, and the ensemble's 75 singers and conductor Anton Armstrong will travel to Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida from Thursday, Jan. 31, through Monday, Feb. 11, 2019 during its 2019 National Winter Tour.
