Arthur James Bertram (Better known as Bert Bertram) was born on 25 December 1893 in Peterborough, South Australia, his father, Charles William Bertram, age 49 and his mother, Augusta Pauline Emilie Nose, age 38.

He married Ruby Raymond on 31 March 1916 when he was 22 years old and they had one son together Arthur Albert who passed away on 26 July 1951 at the age of 34.

Arthur then married Marion Chanavas on 24 December 1974 in France when he was 80 years old. He died on 31 October 1991 in Hampton Bays, New York, USA, at the age of 97.

First acting success in Australia while in his teens in the long-running comedy "On Our Selection". Emigrated to the United States in 1923, toured with song and dance act "Bertram And Raymond".
During WW2 he managed and played in a USO company of "Ten Little Indians", touring the European combat zone; performed the same postwar in Japan, and Far East in "You Can't Take It With You".
Sent to France in 1950 as correspondent for a chain of New England radio stations, and became a resident of Nice. While there, had a featured role with Audrey Hepburn in "How To Steal A Million".
Moved to Hampton Bays, Long Island, writing "East End Wanderings" for the L.I. News Review.
Retired in 1981. His scrapbook collection resides in the 'Billy Rose' collection at the New York Library of the Performing Arts (Lincoln Center).
Honoured by the Acting Academy of America for contributions to the Theatre.
