Alyssa Brode BIO

Alyssa Brode is a versatile soprano newly based in Philadelphia. Previously located in Los Angeles, she frequented such opera companies as Pacific Opera Project (Valenciennce cover/grisette swing in their Old West version of The Merry Widow, ensemble in their acclaimed Star Trek-themed Abduction from the Seraglio), Capitol Opera (Violetta in La traviata, Adina in L'elisir d'amore, Musetta in La bohème) and Opera Animata (Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Amor in Orfeo ed Euridice, Belinda cover/Second Woman in Dido and Aeneas). Alyssa holds voice performance degrees from Westminster Choir College (BM) and California State University, Northridge (MM) and is a recipient of numerous awards and scholarships including the Robert Barbera Scholarship in Voice, the Village Voices Scholarship and the Rachel Ketchie Memorial Award. She earned 3rd Place in the 2016 women’s division of the American Prize in Opera and is a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda music honor society. Please visit alyssabrode.com for more information.

GIRONDINES Original Wilmington Concert Opera Cast Recording Out Now


In 2022, Wilmington Concert Opera premiered Girondines, an opera written in English accompanied by piano and strings, with libretto by Kirsten C. Kunkle and music by Sarah Van Sciver. The Original Wilmington Concert Opera Cast Album is now available!

Wilmington Concert Opera to Present GIRONDINES This Month


Wilmington Concert Opera will present the world premiere of “Girondines,” a two-act ensemble chamber opera for six women, and scored for piano, violin, cello, and electronics. Composer Sarah Van Sciver set the libretto by WCO's co-founder and artistic director, Kirsten C. Kunkle.

In Sweden circa 1900, the romantic entanglements of actress Desiree Armfeldt and others are revealed through Hugh Wheeler's book and Stephen Sondheim's lilting score, which was orchestrated by Jonathan Tunick. Suggested by a film by Ingmar Bergman and originally produced on Broadway by Harold Prince, the show introduced the world to the classic song, Send in the Clowns.
