Wright State University Theatre continues its 45th season in the Herbst Theatre with the classic Ibsen play, An Enemy of the People, running from February 21st a?' March 1st. This drama shocked the world when it premiered nearly a century and half ago, but its story still resonates today with its themes of majority rule vs minority rights, freedom of the press, and a?' for the first time in Western drama a?' the subject of pollution and the environment. Henrik Ibsen, one of the world's most popular and influential playwrights himself, even declared, a?oeI am still uncertain as to whether I should call An Enemy of the People a comedy or a straight drama. It may have many traits of comedy, but it also is based on a serious idea.' This play has been considered one of Ibsen's finest works, coming from the playwright who authored, A Doll's House.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, David Strathairn is set to join previously announced Daniel Day-Lewis and Sally Field in the film version of 'Team of Rivals,' based on Doris Kearns Goodwin's biography of Abraham Lincoln. Steven Spielberg will direct the film titled, 'Lincoln,' featuring a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner.

Victoria Theatre Association presents the May session of Mid-Day Arts Café, Tuesday, May 10th in the Mathile Theatre at the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center, featuring a preview of Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra's production of Leonard Bernstein's MASS: A Theatre Piece for Singers, Players, and Dancers, a part of the 2010-2011 Miami Valley & Good Samaritan Hospitals Classical Series.

The Human Race, Dayton's own professional theatre company, and the Theatre Department of Wright State University will both open their 2010-2011 seasons with one of the most acclaimed dramatic works of the young millennium - and, in a first for the region, they'll be doing it together.

Falsettos' Stephen Bogardus will host the 9 PM concert, which will boast the talents of David Abeles, Jim Bauer, Jennifer Blood, Matt Cavenaugh, Gavin Creel, Jennifer Damiano, Malcolm Gets, Piper Goodeve, Adam Jacobs, Jose Llana, Jeff McCarthy, Meghan McGeary, Mark Mozingo, Brian Munn and Liz Power as well as members of the cast of the upcoming Prospect production of Illyria: Dan Sharkey, Ryan Dietz, Jim Poulos and Tina Stafford. 37 Arts is located in Manhattan at 450 West 37th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues.
