Works & Process presents Experiments in Opera: The Lives and Dreams of Nikola Tesla as summoned by the Honorable Spirits of the Grand Gotham Hotel by Phil Kline and Jim Jarmusch, featuring Anthony Roth Costanzo on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 7pm.

The American Opera Project, in partnership with NYU Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program and The Department of Design for Stage & Film will present UNDISCOVERED COUNTRIES, a series of three 30-minute filmed operas written in response to the chaotic, momentous year 2020.

The beloved Sing for Hope Pianos will return to 28 Liberty Plaza on Tuesday, September 28, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. when Sing for Hope launches 10 artist-designed pianos for anyone and everyone to play as a one-day-only special event.

The American Opera Project announces First Glimpse, a video album of 20 songs created during the first year of AOP’s 2019-21 cycle of Composers & the Voice, the groundbreaking fellowship program that has been the starting point for many of today’s most recognized contemporary operas and artists.

a??a??a??a??a??a??a??The American Opera Project (AOP), announces its selection of eight composers and librettists to receive fellowships for its 10th cycle of the Composers & the Voice training program. Composers Alaina Ferris, Matt Frey, Michael Lanci, Mary Prescott, Jessica Rudman, Tony Solitro, and librettists Amanda Hollander and Jonathan Turner, will each receive a 2-year, tuition-free fellowship that provides experience writing for the voice and opera stage. The fellows will work collaboratively with the following six singers, named as the 10th Composers & the Voice Resident Ensemble: Lyric Coloratura Soprano Justine Aronson, Lyric Soprano Jasmine Muhammad, Mezzo-Soprano Augusta Caso, Tenor Timothy Stoddard, Baritone Mario Diaz-Moresco and Bass-Baritone Brandon Coleman.

Today, most people only know the latter as a character in the play AMADEUS and its Oscar-winning film version, and not as head of all things musical in Vienna for decades and a prolific composer. You've got to give points to the spunky little Dell'Arte Opera Ensemble for digging up Salieri's 1789 work LA CIFRA (THE CYPHER), an opera buffa popular in its time, and giving its US premiere.

Rhymes With Opera, the NYC-based ensemble of performers and composers recently featured on the cover of Opera News, will present their 10th-Anniversary mainstage production, the world premiere of the chamber opera Rumpelstiltskin, in four performances on May 11, 12, 18, and 19, 2018 at the 124 Bank Street Theatre in the West Village.
