Snowlion Repertory Company, whose mission is to create, develop, and present new theater works of cultural, ethical, and spiritual value, announces the world premiere production of the new musical comedy The Secret Princess running April 29 through May 8 at Meetinghouse Arts, 40 Main Street in Freeport.

Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, professional Theatre in Residence at the Oakes Center in Summit, will present its annual Meet the Artist new play reading series.

The small dining room at a local studio was an excellent choice to showcase a classic dysfunctional family living an upper-class life as they descended into chaos over the course of one year. With each of the family members in this dark comedy only really thinking of themselves and their own needs, or living their lives to be sure none of their friends can find fault with anything they do, PTERODACTYLS suggests that our extinction is beginning not with an asteroid or an ice age but rather with a severed connection to the ones closest to us.

This festive event treats audiences to 45-minute previews of 3 brand new holiday-themed musicals. At the end of the evening, audiences vote for their favorite and the winning show will be performed as a full-length staged reading in December. Come meet the writers, enjoy the shows, and vote for your favorite musical!

The New York Children's Theatre Festival has announced the shows selected for its fourth season. The four productions are The Sock Who Lost His Mate; Sue Ology & the Case of the Possibly Haunted House; Help Save the Monkey!; and The Meanest Birthday Girl.

The Freaks Club has been workshopped in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Stamford CT, and now the world premiere production is being staged at the Studio Theater at Portland Stage opening Friday June 14. The Farmington Players Barn will end their run of the play, 'From The Mountains of Mourne to the Mines of Montana.' It is a little known tale of 'The West,' that brought Irish ancestors to the Detroit area. Director Sue Rogers of West Bloomfield says, the play is 'dedicated to their valiant spirit.' Rogers emphasizes that the work by Lisa Hayes 'provides a very personal opportunity to share that pride in our heritage; to sing songs, tell stories and enjoy each other's company-what the Irish refer to as ‘craic.'

Recently, The Cultural+Plannng Group, LLC was selected for consulting on an 18-month project- Broward County's 2020 Community Cultural Plan. This, uniquely 'Broward' 10-year strategic plan, will reflect diverse population trends and will include three component plans focused on the Creative Economy, Cultural Tourism, and Public Art and Design.

Bad Musicals Festival '08 is in its final week at the Grand Theatre at the Producers Club in the Times Square/ theatre district through August 9, Mon - Sat @ 8 pm; Sun @ 2 pm.
