Rilen is a a transgender, genderfluid actor in NYC. In 2008 Rilen attended the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point where he pursued his degree in musical theatre. After attending the university for 2 years he went on to continue his training in New York at the well known Atlantic Theatre Company Acting School, founded by David Mamet and William H. Macy.
During his time at the Atlantic, Rilen decided to medically transition to male in 2015 and began to play male roles. As time progressed he made the decision to play male and female roles to fit his genderfluid identity. While studying at The Atlantic he played Chad, a repressed gay man who fell in love with his best friend in Almost, Maine. Rilen was the first transgender actor to attend the Atlantic.
His first professional role in New York was playing Konstantin in Anton Chekhov's 'The Seagull' he then went on to sing in the inaugural "Trans Voices Cabaret" held at the Duplex, and made his off-off broadway debut playing Vic, a nonbinary character in Brunch Theaters presents: Black Coffee.
Rilen is an avid youtuber who speaks up about mental illness and transgender issues. In Summer 2017 Rilen was rated #2 on 'LGBT+ POC Youtubers You Should Know.' He was also featured in Backstage Magazine online and print edition in September 2017 about his work as a transgender actor.
