Throughout the season, hundreds of families and children will have opportunities for free musical learning, play, discovery, and connection through Carnegie Hall Weill Music Institute’s early childhood programs. A new video series, Sing with Carnegie Hall, features weekly interactive sing-alongs.

More than 200 outstanding teen musicians-hailing from 41 states across the US-came together in July 2020 as an online virtual community to form three top-notch musical ensembles: the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA), NYO2, and NYO Jazz.

From July 6-17, more than 200 of the country's most outstanding teen musicians-hailing from 41 states across the USA-come together to form an online virtual musical community, taking part in Carnegie Hall's three acclaimed national youth ensembles-the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA), NYO2, and NYO Jazz.

NYC Teens Collaborate with Fred Hersch as Part of the Future Music Project Ensemble

This June, New York City teens will have the opportunity to work with renowned jazz pianist and composer Fred Hersch as part of theFuture Music Project Ensemble, a dynamic collective of young musicians that writes, produces, and performs original music at Carnegie Hall and around the city. On Thursday, June 14 at 7:00 p.m., the ensemble performs with Hersch at SubCulture on the Lower East Side, followed by a second concert at El Museo del Barrio on Saturday, June 16 as part of theSuper Sabado Block Party, with street games, art making, and performances from 12:00 - 5:00 p.m., including a Carnegie Hall Neighborhood Concert by El Barrio's own Johnny Colon. Hersch has been working with the teens in workshops this spring, and will be collaborating with them as part of both concerts, which will include a new work by Hersch as well as music inspired by the 1960s.
