East West Players Announces October Special Events Series


East West Players, the nation's longest running theatre of color and largest producer of Asian American theatrical work, is proud to announce a series of special partnerships with Asian AF (the comedy variety show created by Upright Citizens Brigade Member Will Choi), and Crazy Talented Asians (the variety talent showcase created by Singer/Songwriter AJ Rafael) that will bring two multi-day events to the David Henry Hwang Theater in the Little Tokyo district of Downtown Los Angeles.

East West Players Announces Extension Of Theatre For Youth Tour Extension


East West Players (EWP), the nation's longest-running professional theater of color in the country and the largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work, is pleased to announce that its Theatre for Youth (TFY) touring production, Tam Tran Goes To Washington-which commenced in the Spring of 2018 and caters to middle and high schools, community colleges, and universities in Greater Los Angeles-will be extended through the Fall of 2018.

Artists at Play and the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center Share Women's Stories of Internment and Resilience


Chay Yew's frank drama, Question 27, Question 28 will be presented by Artists at Play and the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center in conjunction with the 75th anniversary of the signing of Executive Order 9066. UW School of Drama Celebrates & Honors the Northwest Asian American Theatre


The University of Washington School of Drama's historic 75th anniversary continues to celebrate the Seattle theatre community's rich history. With their Seattle Theatres Lost and Founded Series, produced in partnership with the UW World Series and One Coast Collaboration, the School of Drama pays tribute to inspiring companies no longer up and running, including: Alice B. Theatre, Bathhouse Theatre, Empty Space Theatre, Northwest Asian American Theatre, and the Seattle Group Theatre.

On June 30, it was announced that Tim Dang would be stepping down as Artistic Director of EWP in June 2016 and Marilyn Tokuda would be retiring at the same time. Proceeds of One Night Only benefit the artistic and educational programs of East West Players.

East West Players' Producing Artistic Director to Step Down


East West Players (EWP), the nation's longest running professional theatre of color and the largest creator of Asian Pacific artistic work, announced today that Tim Dang, Producing Artistic Director for the past 22 years, will step down in June 2016 at the end of the organization's 50th Anniversary celebration. This will give the organization a full year to transition to a new strategic plan and to mentor new leadership for the next chapter of the organization.
