Next up on The Players Club of Swarthmore's Mainstage is Lisa D'Amour's (Cherokee, Nita & Zita, Airline Highway) gritty, funny, intensely emotional and cautionary play, Detroit. The play is set in a suburb of a mid-sized American city. Ben and Mary, a most dysfunctional couple invite their new neighbors, Kenny and Sharon for a cookout. The barbecue is filled with strong uneasy tension that gradually escalates into a series of out-of-control events that gives new meaning to dysfunctional behavior. Duke City Rep is celebrating its first appearance at the Cell Theatre with a feisty production of Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, a comedy by award- winning playwright, Alan Ball (American Beauty.) Set in Knoxville, Tennessee, the play features five, very different bridesmaids, all reluctant participants in a fancy, over-the-top, Southern wedding. Having survived the ceremony itself, they are now taking refuge in the upstairs bedroom of the bride's rebellious, pot-smoking younger sister, Meredith, as the reception proceeds on the lawn below.

Blackout Theatre Company and Duke City Repertory Theatre Announce Poe Fest. Join Blackout and Duke City Rep for a festival of events celebrating of the life and works of the renowned writer Edgar Allan Poe, the inspiration for both DCRT's Poe and Blackout's The Poe Project: Merely This and Nothing More. Poe-centric activities begin the last week of January and continue through April.
