Duke City Repertory Theatre Presents a Reinvention of The Nutcracker and Donation Drive for YMCA's Henderson House
Duke City Repertory Theatre presents The Nutcracker, directed by Artistic Director Amelia Ampuero and written by Jake Minton, Phillip Klapperich, Kevin O'Donnell, and Tommy Rapley, and based on the story by E.T.A. Hoffman. The show features company members Ezra Colón, Katie Becker Colón, Frank Taylor Green, Josh Heard, and Lauren Myers, as well as local Albuquerque favorites Ashley Daniels, Willis Miller, and Catharine Pilafas. The production runs December 3-20, 2015 at The Cell Theatre, 700 First St. NW 87102.
Let Duke City Rep fill the holiday season with magic and hope! In this innovative and smart take on the classic story, young Clara will risk the darkness, battle the Rat King, and save her family with the help of a squad of misfit toys-and a magical Nutcracker, of course. This modern holiday adaptation weaves together riveting dialogue, original song, and spellbinding spectacle to tell a compelling story that is as hilarious as it is heartwarming. Transformative, imaginative, and inventive-this production will be unlike any "Nutcracker" experienced before-and is fun for all ages!
During the entire run of The Nutcracker, Duke City Rep will host a donation drive to support Henderson House, YWCA New Mexico's Transitional Living Center for Homeless Women Veterans and their Children. DCRT asks that patrons interested in supporting veteran women and their children to please bring any of the items on the Henderson House wish list to any production of The Nutcracker (please visit www.dukecityrep.com for the full list). All donation drive participants will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a gift certificate provided by our generous community partner, The Artichoke Cafe, for a Three Course Dinner for Two, valued at $150.00.

Duke City Repertory Theatre, a professional non-profit theatre company in the middle of our 5th season, exists to serve the audience. We believe that theatre is a mutual experience between audience and actors. It is not merely witnessing or performing, but something shared and profound. DCRT is accountable to our patrons in providing top-notch, bold theatre that inspires and transforms. It is our aim to make this art accessible and compelling to not only the theatre community, but the entire community at large. Our theatre resides not in bricks and mortar, but in that which can be shared between human beings immersed in a created world.
