Broadway's Max Chernin (Bright Star), Kaitlyn Davidson (Cinderella, Nice Work If You Can Get It) and F. Michael Haynie (Wicked), as well as Jed Resnick (Avenue Q)* will headline the The Mik e Pettry Project , the second in the Singers Forum/EMGCollective's collaborative songbook series on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, October 4 & 5, at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. The series brings together Broadway performers and members of the SF/AEA Scholarship Program to spotlight work of prominent new composers. Following the success of The Patrick Dwyer Project, the series now features composer/lyricist Mike Pettry (The Light Princess, Things I Left on Long Island) whose work has been produced at A.R.T., South Coast Rep, The New Victory Theatre, etc. Pettry's current projects include partnering with composer Eli Bolin as he provides the lyrics for The Last Song of Eddie Scourge, a hard-rock adaptation of the classic A Christmas Carol.

The Fabulous Fox Theatre has announced that the national tour of Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage will play at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis today, October 21 - November 2, 2014.

Just in case Jillian Mueller needs a new dance partner on the DIRTY DANCING: THE MUSICAL tour, I think we've found one. While he's not as tall as Samuel Pergande, he sure has the moves. In a Facebook post, 'Laine Kristina' posted a video of her son Charlie reenacting every move of the iconic routine to '(I've Had) The Time of My Life.'

So we have just arrived in Durham, NC. We had our closing week in DC and with understudy rehearsals and a lot of different people being swung on. I made my debut as Mr. Schumacher. I haven't had that much fun in a while. I gotta say the cast, crew, and wardrobe were awesome as they helped direct me and guide me through my shows.Also, We had Alexendra Mateo, Nikki Spencer, and Joshua Keith all having debuts doing new bits in the show and they did great! In all DC was a success.

Samuel Pergande and Jillian Mueller star as Johnny Castle and Frances 'Baby' Houseman in the North American tour of Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage. The stage musical of the worldwide smash-hit film opened on September 2nd at the National Theatre, 10 years after the original stage production received its world premiere in Sydney, Australia. Hi guys! Last time we spoke I was headed into Johnny rehearsals, but due to some unforeseen circumstances I will be playing the 80 year old Mr. Schumacher first instead of the leading heartthrob for a few performances. This week, I guess versatility is a must! So to bone up on my more mature character, I've gone straight to our resident "old guys". First, I went to talk to Gary Lynch. This is his second time on tour with Dirty Dancing. I asked him how this show compares to the other US tour and he said it is sharper and more refined. "They've taken out a lot of extraneous material and made it more streamlined." Gary also originally played Moe, my role in the show. He told me how the character had a few more scenes, a song, and a lot more lines, but I sure am glad I don't have to do all that extra work with the insane amount of dancing and understudying I have to do in the show!

Eleanor Bergstein, who wrote the screenplay for the iconic film DIRTY DANCING as well as the book for the stage production, was recognized during the curtain call on the opening night of DIRTY DANCING - THE CLASSIC STORY ON STAGE at National Theatre on Tuesday, September 2. The show plays the National Theatre through September 14 before embarking on a 30-city North American tour. As she joined the cast on stage, Bergstein said, 'We are so excited to launch our national tour in the nation's capital.' Scroll down for photos!

Finally, we are in beautiful Washington DC. The team just finished up our tech and first previews in York, PA. We are so close to our official opening (Tuesday, Sept.2) of "Dirty Dancing". What a whirlwind it has been. There has been a lot to work on with a whole new set, blocking, and musical arrangements for the show… but when the going got tough, the cast and crew got dirty! Tons of costume changes, and some last minute revisions have made us stay on our toes.To add to this I start "Johnny" rehearsal this week! I am so excited to put on the black tank, sunshades, and leather jacket. Not to mention working with this gal.
