The shore is alive with the sound of music this summer with the new series Off Boardwalk at The Showboat Hotel, running Friday nights only on July 5-August 30. This summer cabaret series features an intoxicating mix of theater, cabaret and drag performances with two one-hour shows each Friday night at 7:30PM and 9:0PM.
The Walnut Street Theatre will host an exclusive one-night-only concert as this year's annual Gala. The concert, America Sings!, features several Walnut favorites performing over 20 American and Broadway standards. The concert will take place on the Walnut's mainstage on Friday, May 4 at 7:00PM.
Get ready to kick off your Monday nights with the sounds of some of the region's most popular musical theater stars, accompanied by a 17-piece big band orchestra. Philly's favorite musical theater star Jeff Coon is bringing his Summer Club to Manayunk's Venice Island Performing Arts Center for a series of swinging shows throughout 2017.
When the title of the musical is followed by 'based on the book/film...', there tends to be one of two reactions- excitement (LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, MARY POPPINS, RAGTIME) or dread (SISTER ACT, GHOST, CARRIE). And while the Broadway-bound BECAUSE OF WINN DIXIE, now playing through May 10th at the Delaware Theatre Company, does not quite reach the level of LA CAGE or RAGTIME, it's hard to resist the feel-good charm bubbling off the stage.
