AFTER HOURS THETRE COMPANY (who most recently produced I Love You Because) present, from the Academy Award-winning musical team responsible for "La La Land" and the smash Broadway hit Dear Evan Hansen, DOGFIGHT, music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, book by Peter Duchan, musical direction by Elmo Zapp, choreography and co-direction by Jennifer Oundjian and co-directed by Jennifer Strattan. DOGFIGHT will open on Friday, June 2 and perform through Sunday, June 25 at the Hudson Backstage, 6539 Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood.

14 High School Students Named as 2017 Grand Prize Finalists in The Music Center's 29th Annual Spotlight Program

The Music Center named 14 outstanding Southern California high school students as Grand Prize Finalists in the 29th annual The Music Center's Spotlight program (Spotlight), a free nationally recognized scholarship and arts training program for teens.  Two Grand Prize Finalists were named in each of seven categories, including acting, ballet, non-classical dance, classical voice, non-classical voice, classical instrumental and jazz instrumental.  All finalists will receive $5,000 scholarships and appear in a ticketed Grand Finale Performance at The Music Center's Walt Disney Concert Hall on May 23, 2017, at 7:00 p.m.  Spotlight Grand Prize Finalists were chosen from more than 1,300 Southern California students who auditioned for panels of expert judges.

The National High School Musical Theatre Awards (NHSMTA)/Jimmy Awards has announced the inaugural Inspiring Teacher Award, presented by Wells Fargo to Brendan Jennings, John Burroughs High School, Burbank, CA, and Larry Robinson, Central Academy of Technology and Arts, Monroe, NC for the encouragement and inspiration that led their students to win the 2016 coveted Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor.

St. Louis Actors' Studio's Acclaimed LaBUTE THEATRE FESTIVAL of One-Act Plays Comes to 59E59 Theaters for its Second Year

59E59 Theaters (Elysabeth Kleinhans, Artistic Director; Peter Tear, Executive Producer; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) is thrilled to welcome the return of St. Louis Actors' Studio with their acclaimed LaBUTE NEW THEATER FESTIVAL, an evening of one-act plays featuring the NYC premieres of short plays by Neil LaBute, Gabe McKinley, Cary Pepper, andAdam Seidel. Directed by Kel Haney, Michael Hogan, and John Pierson, the LaBUTE NEW THEATER FESTIVAL begins performances on Friday, January 13 for a limited engagement through Sunday, February 5.  The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7:30 PM; Friday at 8:30 PM; Saturday at 2:30 PM & 8:30 PM; and Sunday at3:30 PM & 7:30 PM. Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). California Teen Wins Top Honor at National Songbook Academy

2016 Songbook Academy National Finalists Announced

The Great American Songbook Foundation, founded by Grammy-nominated vocalist, Michael Feinstein, has selected 40 students from across the country to participate in the 2016 Songbook Academy. High school vocalists representing 17 states will compete for top awards on Saturday, July 23 at the Songbook Academy final concert at the Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel.
