James Parenti BIO

James Parenti is an actor, musician, and playwright currently based in NYC.

James has been cast in the role of Prior in "Angels in America: Millennium Approaches" at Playhouse on Park, and recently starred in the world premiere of "Cupid and Psyche" at the Barrow Group Theatre.

He's recently appeared on New York stages in productions of "As You Like It," "The Town of No One," "May Violets Spring," "Cymbeline," "The Body Electric," "Love's Labour's Lost," "The Tempest," and "Madame Bovary," and onscreen in "Anything You Ever," "Threeway," and is currently shooting the first season of the web series "Adapting."

In 2014, James' play "May Violets Spring" opened at the Bridge Theatre in Manhattan. After selling out its initial run and garnering a slew of overwhelmingly positive reviews, additional performances were added at the larger Joria Playhouse.

Resident co-founder/co-artistic director Sean Harris directs the American masterpiece Angels in America: Part 1: Millennium Approaches to kick off Playhouse on Park's sixth season. Winner of the 1993 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award, the first part of Tony Kushner's epic depicts life in America during the 1980s. Touching upon the provocative topics of politics, religion, and the AIDS epidemic, Angels in America has been hailed as 'a searching and radical rethinking of American political drama' (New York Times) and 'the most ambitious American Play of our time' (Newsweek). This production is recommended for audiences sixteen and up.
