In the smash hit musical 'The Producers,' veteran producer Max Bialystock explains to his accountant/new producing partner Leo Bloom the step by step instructions of producing a Broadway show. He advised to find the worst play ever written, hire the worst actors in town, find the worst director in town, and finally open on Broadway. Luckily, the Argyle Theatre in Babylon Village did just the opposite. They chose one of the best musicals ever written by Mel Brooks as their season closer, gathered a troop of top notch professionals to perform it, and chose Broadway veteran Evan Pappas, the best in the business, to direct it.

In countries all over the world, very different people share the same dream: The American Dream. They don't just want to live like Americans: they want to BE AMERICAN. After decades of absorbing American pop culture, two Malaysian screenwriters set out to write the perfect American film but which is it? The liberal-arthouse-movie which America needs or the white-savior-summer-action blockbuster movie which it wants? Low on sleep, high on caffeine and short on time, these two dreamers must find common ground quickly if they are to achieve their pursuit of identity, fame and fortune. Using heart-wrenching emails from soldiers in Iraq along with TV news footage and Rumi & WW I poetry, SANCTUARY a new play written and performed by theater and film actress Susanne Sulby, will play a limited engagement January 3 through 23rd at Off Broadway's Lion Theatre (410 West 42nd Street).
