Ellie Joy Fortson is a 12-year-old actor, singer and dancer from the New York City area. At BergenPAC, she has played the title role in Matilda Jr., Jasmine in Aladdin Jr. and Humpty Dumpty in Shrek the Musical. She also played Hannah in The Diary, a musical about Anne Frank, at the Barrymore Film Center. This summer she trained in Paper Mill Playhouse's Summer Musical Theatre Conservatory and performed in New Voices 2026: On Vacation, directed by Mark S. Hoebee.
In New York, Ellie has performed at 54 Below, The Green Room 42, Chelsea Table + Stage and Don't Tell Mama. She also sang in the opening act of the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall with Broadway Youth Ensemble. She trains in voice with Amelia DeMayo and in acting with Stacey Van Gorder and Cameron Moir, and takes acting classes at the Marnie Cooper School of Acting. She studies ballet, jazz and hip hop at BergenPAC under Artistic Director Roberta Mathes, and tap and Broadway dance at Dance Molinari. She is an alumna of Broadway Artists Alliance and Broadway Kids Auditions, and holds a first-degree black belt in taekwondo.
