Hailing from the wide-open prairies of Saskatchewan Canada, Duff has been on the stage and performing since the age of seven. Over the span of his 30 year career he has produced and performed in theatres all across Canada, the U.S. and abroad.
At age 16, he won the Saskatchewan Talent Search and as a result, became a cast member of Saskatchewan Express, touring to all the fairs and exhibitions throughout the province as well as across Canada for two years. He was also in a vocal group from 1980 to 1985 called “Just Friends” that toured the province and was chosen to perform at EXPO 86. Finalists for the Saskatchewan Talent Search in 1984.
After high school, he was offered a full scholarship to study opera at North Dakota State University, in Dickinson North Dakota working under the head of the music department, renowned opera musical director, Dr. Elwood Brown.
In 1986, he was chosen to be an Ambassador to Saskatchewan for the World's Fair (EXPO 86) and relocated to Vancouver, hosting thousands of people through this very popular pavilion and performing the hit musical production "The Big Story" directed by Jacques Lemay. After spending that time in Vancouver, Duff relocated there.
He is self-taught on guitar and is an accomplished songwriter. Since then he has been writing and recording for hisown material as well as recording other artist’s material with some airplay on CBC Radio for his song “If I Only Have The Time”. In 1987 he was a finalist for an original composition in the Nashville Music City Song Festival competition.
An accomplished musical theatre performer, Duff has appeared in over 30 musicals, revues and plays at every major
theatre across Canada and the U.S. Some of his recent credits include: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (US National Tour),
Guys and Dolls (2010-2011/Drayton), Legends (Drayton/The Grand Theatre), The Complet Works of Shakespeare -
abridged, Batboy…The Musical, Little Shop of Horrors ("Plant Voice"/ Sudbury Theatre Centre), Twist and Shout:
The British Invasion (Drayton), Forever Plaid, Fiddler On The Roof, the title role in Hank Williams, The Show He Never
Gave (Theatre on the Grand), Godspell ( "Judas"/Bathurst Street Theatre/Georgian Theatre Festival), Les Miserables (
Original Canadian Cast/1st National Tour of Canada &U.S.), Les Miserables In Concert (Toronto Skydome), The
Foursome (World Premier/Ontario Tour), The Buddy Holly Story (Stage West), My Fair Lady (Huron Country
Playhouse), Sweet Charity ("Oscar"/TUTS), The Garage Sale (directed by Ken Gass/Factory Theatre) The Baker's Wife
and The Cradle Will Rock (Equity Showcase Theatre), Sylvia, Lonestar(Vancouver Little Theatre) and The Affections
of May and his own one man show called The Entertainers, written and produced as part of the 2000 Georgian
Theatre Festival Season and the City Playhouse Theatre in Vaughan ON. in 2010.
Mr. MacDonald was also a Headline Entertainer for Princess Cruises for over 12 years. He has toured the globe
extensively, performing on over ten of their luxury liners and starring in over twenty of their lavish Broadway and
music revue productions. He also entertained audiences with his captivating one-man cabaret spotlight backed by
a nine-piece orchestra.
Roles in TV Series include: G-Spot, Street Time, Earth Final Conflict, The War Next Door, John Woo's Once a
Thief, Neon Rider, Nancy Drew, Forever Knight (as Hitler), Flash Forward and Movies of the Week : Jane Doe
(USA Network) and The Music Man (Disney). Feature Films: Cinderella Man and Foolproof.
You are sure to have seen him in such commercials as Home Hardware, Molson's, Reese's Peanut Butter
Cups, McDonald's and a three year contract as “Ronny” the TV/Radio spokesperson for Ultramar Gasoline on the
east coast of Canada.
Duff has extensive experience in Radio, ADR, cartoon and Voice Overs.

stations across Canada, US and Europe.

Grand Theatre Launches Season with ONCE


The Grand Theatre opens the 2017/18 Season with its production of ONCE, the Tony-award winning musical, co-produced with the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre. Directed by Tracey Flye and featuring actor/musicians Jeremy Walmsley and Amanda LeBlanc, the pre-show begins with an on-stage bar open for business; patrons are invited to mingle over a drink while the cast entertains with music.
