BIO
Desirée is a two time Telly Award winning Creative who resides in NYC. Her first venture into filmmaking as a writer/director, “An Invitation to Tea”, was one of 5 recipients of the inaugural Inwood Artworks Filmmakers Grant and went on to win Excellence in Filmmaking, Best New Director, and multiple Audience Choice Awards. Her second short film, “Anne“, explores the racial tensions of color blind casting while questioning the true importance of story telling. It and was in consideration for a 2023 Academy Award Nomination and was accepting into over 30 festivals, winning her a "Best of Fest" and "Best Cinematic Director" Award, among others. Her most recent film “Beyond the Fog”, stars Broadway favorite, Paige Davis, and was awarded a $30,000 Film grant from the South Carolina Film Commission in partnership with IndieGrants.org.
She has moved into directing for branded content, with her recent VOX campaign for Straight Talk Wireless winning two Branded Entertainment Awards at MediaPost’s 2023 Creative Media Awards.

In honor of International Women’s Day, BroadwayWorld, in association with Pass the Salt Productions is thrilled to present the short musical film, ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE. Executive producer and co-creator Sarah Bierstock joined forces with director and co-creator Desiree Abeyta to showcase an all-star Broadway cast featuring J. Max Baker (One Christmas Carol), Charl Brown (Tammy Faye), Kristy Cates (Wicked), Paige Davis (Chicago), Kim Berrios Lin (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin), Miranda Plant Byers (Love, Medea), Christiane Noll (Dear Evan Hansen), Zal Owen (Harmony), Andrew O’Shanick (Harmony), Shina Ann Morris (Spamalot), Patrick Page (Hadestown). The film is rounded out by an all-female powerhouse producing team of Miranda Plant Byers, Jennifer Diamond, Jennifer Piech Pasbjerg, and Danielle Lemberg (Seward and Kissel, LLP).

The cast, crew, and sponsors gathered at the Triad Theater to celebrate the wrap party and advanced screening of the short musical film ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE! Inwood Art Works, a nonprofit organization that creates and curates professional performing and visual arts in the Inwood community, is announcing the return of the Inwood Film Festival March 13 a?" 15, 2020 for its milestone 5th annual film festival. The IFF will span three days, at the Campbell Sports Center located in Inwood at 218th Street and Broadway where it has been held since 2017.
