Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) announces the naming of its Studio 4B for the great American entertainer, actor, singer, and comedian Danny Kaye (1911-1987) and his wife Sylvia Fine Kaye (1913-1991), an accomplished lyricist, composer, and producer who mostly collaborated with her husband, writing material that he performed. The dedication completes the naming of all of BAC's studios and theaters for gifted artists, friends and/or mentors to Founder and Artistic Director Mikhail Baryshnikov-a roster that includes philanthropist Howard Gilman; artists Jerome Robbins, John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Rudolf Nureyev; and BAC's founding managing director emerita, Christina Sterner.

Iconic entertainer and humanitarian Danny Kaye was honored as his namesake sandwich joined the menu of the famed NYC staple in his Centennial year. On Monday, April 29th, Dena Kaye, Danny's only daughter with his wife and collaborator Sylvia Fine Kaye, joined the staff of the Carnegie Deli for a sandwich cutting ceremony, officially inducting the Danny Kaye Deli Club sandwich onto the menu for all to enjoy. Museum of the Moving Image Celebrates Danny Kaye, 4/27


Danny Kaye (1913-1987) was one of the most versatile, charismatic, and beloved entertainers of the 20th century. Museum of the Moving Image will present a special centennial tribute hosted by Dena Kaye, Danny Kaye's daughter, on Sunday, April 27, 2013, at 2:00 p.m.The program will begin with a jam-packed, breathtaking 28-minute compilation "The Genius of Danny Kaye," with highlights from his remarkable career, followed by a conversation with Dena Kaye moderated by Chief Curator David Schwartz. Afterwards, the Museum will present a rare screening of Knock on Wood, which may be the best screen showcase for Kaye's many talents.

The Academy to Screen WHITE CHRISTMAS at Oscars Outdoors On Dec. 6-7


In celebration of actor Danny Kaye's centennial, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will screen the holiday classic 'White Christmas' (1954) at Oscars Outdoors in Hollywood on Thursday, December 6, and Friday, December 7, at 7 p.m. Special guests include Dena Kaye, Mary Crosby and Monsita Ferrer Botwick, the daughters of Kaye, Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney, respectively. Hollywood special effects wizards are predicting a 100 percent chance of snow at the open-air theater on the Academy Hollywood campus, bringing the evening to a dramatic conclusion. December marks the start of the celebration of Danny Kaye's centennial, a year of festivities across the country spotlighting the legendary entertainer and humanitarian.
