Legendary star of Broadway (and all other mediums of entertainment he undertakes) Ben Vereen will be bringing his latest cabaret act Steppin’ Out With Ben Vereen to the Catalina Bar & Grill February 24th & 25th. 

The 18th Annual College of Fine Arts Hall of Fame will honor iconic musician and performer Paul Anka, legendary songstress Dionne Warwick, and prima ballerina Cynthia Gregory. The gala celebration will be held in the Ballroom in the UNLV Student Union at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, on Apr. 5.

Producer Dan Watt and Tony winner Ben Vereen have decided to donate the proceeds from Ben's new single “BOTH SIDES NOW' to the Art Attack Foundations newly formed “Graciela Daniele Dance Scholarship”.

Jess here. It's GRAMMY season and I just had the pleasure of listening to LAS VEGAS SUITE, an absolutely amazing album representing a collection of original compositions by Nathan Tanouye. Clint Holmes supplies the lyrics and vocals, and the entire recording is backed by the Las Vegas Jazz Collection; an orchestra comprised of 33 of Las Vegas' finest musicians.

The celebrated Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo will appear at the Mannes School of Music on Sunday, February 19 at 4PM. In celebration of Mannes' centennial year, Michael Newman and Laura Oltman will perform works by composers associated with Mannes which include Aaron Copland, Clarice Assad, as well as current composition faculty members Paul Moravec, Lowell Liebermann, David Loeb and Robert Cuckson.

On Friday December 18 the legendary Ben Vereen came to Catalina Jazz Club for his latest one-man cabaret An Evening with Ben Vereen. Backed by three fabulous musicians, musical director David Loeb at the piano, Tom Kennedy on bass and Marc DiCianni on drums, Vereen took the stage for 70 minutes and let fly. There was enough energy and passion abounding for three performers, let alone one. Known as a primo dancer, that was at a minimum, as he is approaching 70, but he moved in constant rhythm across the stage and back as he lovingly sang 20 songs, mostly from Broadway. There was very little patter; Vereen poured his soul into the work and kept his packed house begging for more.

The April 19th 'Tokyo to New York' concert features six world premiers and six United States premiers composed for critically acclaimed clarinetist and hichiriki player Thomas Piercy by Tokyo- and NYC-based composers.

The two events: a panel discussion on launching a music school featuring ANIM founder Dr. Ahamad Sarmast (the first Afghan with a doctorate in music), and a lecture performance on the Academy's native music and music traditions provide a rare opportunity to hear about these topics from the Academy's founder, faculty and musicians.
