George Street Playhouse presents THE PIANIST, a play with music, based on the memoir “The Pianist” by Wladyslaw Szpilman and directed and adapted for the stage by Emily Mann (Broadway: A Streetcar Named Desire, Having Our Say, Anna and the Tropics). THE PIANIST begins previews on September 26, with an official opening night set for September 29. The play runs through October 22.

The new musical drama Soviet Zion will make its debut in London this October. It tells the story of an American family and a Ukrainian family who in 1939 both move to Siberia participating in a movement to create there a socialist Yiddish-speaking utopia. The reality they face is not what they had been led to believe, and great personal sacrifice will have to be made in order for them to achieve the freedom they seek.
The Arts Educational Schools London, part of the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation, last night staged EVITA, in the presence of Andrew Lloyd Webber himself, as part of the opening of their theatre. Webber is the school's most generous patron, funding the school's £3.5 million refurbishment and is president of the school.
