Ivoryton Playhouse Honors Vets with Veterans Day Concert


The Ivoryton Playhouse is honored to present a Veterans Day Concert on Monday, November 12th at 2pm and 7:30pm. Arlington Sons will be performed by David Pittsinger and his son, Richard Pittsinger.  This moving piece was personally commissioned by David to honor his late father - a US Army veteran and distinguished guard at Arlington National Cemetery.

NY Philharmonic Musicians To Perform At Hoff-Barthelson Music School And Coach Student Chamber Ensembles


Hoff-Barthelson Music School's 2018 Elaine Stamas New York Philharmonic Educational Residency, featuring members of the New York Philharmonic, will be held Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the Music School, 25 School Lane, Scarsdale, New York. Chamber Music Master Classes will be held from 1:00 - 3:15 pm; a concert featuring members of the NY Philharmonic takes place at 5:00 pm.

Carnegie Hall's Notables Program Presents the 14th Annual Notable Occasion


On Monday, April 23 at 7:00 p.m., Nicola and Beatrice Bulgari and the Carnegie Hall Notables-a membership and ticket program for music enthusiasts in their 20s and 30s-will host the 14th Annual Notable Occasion. This private performance in Zankel Hall for Carnegie Hall Notables and special guests features two American rising star vocalists: soprano Julia Bullock and tenor Paul Appleby offering a combination of arias, lieder, favorites from the American songbook including works by Bernstein, Britten, Lerner and Loewe, Schubert, and Schumann, among other surprises. The two singers will be accompanied by pianist John Arida.

Hoff-Barthelson Music School's 2017 Elaine Stamas New York Philharmonic Educational Residency, featuring members of the New York Philharmonic, will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017, at the Music School, 25 School Lane, Scarsdale, New York. This program, held annually each spring, is named in honor of Elaine Stamas, who was a long-time supporter of the School's Philharmonic program and member of the Board of Trustees.

Courtney Lewis Named Assistant Conductor of New York Philharmonic's 2014-15 Season


Courtney Lewis, age 29, has been named New York Philharmonic Assistant Conductor beginning in September 2014. Current Assistant Conductor Case Scaglione, age 31, will be promoted to Associate Conductor, also to begin in September 2014. They will assist Music Director Alan Gilbert and all guest conductors throughout the season, and will lead educational events, including School Day Concerts and Young People's Concerts. Joshua Weilerstein, who has been Assistant Conductor along with Mr. Scaglione since September 2011, will conclude his tenure as Assistant Conductor at the end of the 2013-14 season.

Flutist Carol Wincenc Celebrates 25th Anniversary at The Juilliard School Today


Carol Wincenc's 25th Anniversary Recital at The Juilliard School, taking place tonight, September 30, 2013, at 8:00 PM at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater, features Debussy's Sonata for flute, viola, and harp, L. 137; the world premiere of Yuko Uebayashi's Misericordia for flute and string quartet, a work written for Wincenc; the U.S. premiere of Schnittke's Moz-Art a la Mozart for eight flutes and harp; the New York premiere of Henze's I Sentimenti di Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach for solo flute, solo harp, double string quartet, and bass; and an arrangement by Daniel Paget: One Hundred Roses: Seven Neapolitan Serenades and Dances for flute, strings, mandolin, guitar, and percussion.

Carol Wincenc, the Grammy-nominated artist who is one of the most acclaimed and respected flutists performing today, marks her 25th anniversary as a member of the faculty of The Juilliard School in the 2013-14 season. She is celebrating the milestone with a concert at Juilliard that represents her most cherished facets of artistic life: new music, with the world premiere of a work written for her, and the U.S. and New York premieres of works by Alfred Schnittke and Hans Werner Henze; collaboration with her esteemed colleagues, with every work on the program requiring at least two guest artists; and, of course, teaching some of the best young flutists in the world who pass through Juilliard, with seven of her Juilliard students joining her on the program.
