Broadway's Next Generation Launches A FIGHT FOR OUR LIVES Anthem In Solidarity With March For Our Lives

NEXTGEN BROADWAY, the premiere performing group from David Green's Musical Theatre University in Southern California have recorded an anthem to support the efforts of March for Our Lives, the organization which supports the end of gun violence in schools, following the tragic event at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14. A FIGHT FOR OUR LIVES was recorded as a way for students to utilize their voices to add to the call for action to end gun violence in our nation and our nation's schools.

"After the tragic shootings in Parkland, Florida and the incredible way the students of Stoneman Douglas High School refused to stay silent, the MTU students gathered in my office one day after school looking for a way to join the cause, even though they are from the opposite coast and felt a bit isolated from the energy of the movement" said David Green, the school's founder and director. "Even though not directly affected by the specific tragedy, they were angry, frustrated and fearful and wanted to find a special way they could raise their voices in their outrage. Since they are singers, training for professional theatrical careers, raising their voices in song seemed a natural trajectory". MTU students are always challenged to use their talents to support social and charitable causes. Mr. Green's Broadway alumni include Matthew Morrison, Stephanie Block, Lindsay Mendez, Krysta Rodriguez and more.

Green and the conservatory's musical director, Bob Marino, crafted a song for the students overnight trying to echo their sentiments and student appeals throughout the nation as seen in national media. The students asked that the song be utilized to raise money for the March For Our Lives movement, for the March 23rd events, and for the movement beyond. The song is being uploaded to iTunes where people can purchase a downloaded version for $3.99, with all proceeds will being donated to the March For Our Lives movement.

David Green's Musical Theatre University (MTU) is the most intensive and comprehensive, pre-professional training ground in the performing arts for talented young people, grades 8 -13, from throughout the Coachella Valley and neighboring counties and communities, in residence at Rancho Mirage High School. The Coachella Valley Campus is sponsored and presented by The Palm Springs Unified School District. MTU was founded in Orange County, California by David Green in 1999.

Designed for young people who believe they will pursue a career in musical theatre, the MTU gives them the necessary tools and techniques for a successful entry in both institutions of higher education and/or directly in to the professional arts industry.

MTU is committed to a nurturing and "student-affirming" environment, always placing a comprehensive, quality arts education for its participants as its first priority. Students are selected by audition and must display an above average level of talent in their chosen course of study and demonstrate the strong potential for growth. There are a limited number of openings each year to ensure a small, intensive environment with a commitment to offering the highest level of instruction and performance opportunities to each and every student.

Students from both public and private schools are eligible for audition and acceptance into the program and represent the entire spectrum of ethnic, cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds. The program is offered Free of Charge to the participants.

The MTU faculty consists of professional artist-teachers, who are currently working in their respective fields, giving the students a unique "real-world" experience and practical, "best-practice" instruction. The current faculty includes Broadway Veterans Lucie Arnaz, Alix Korey, Teri Ralston, Sal Mistretta and more.
