Astounding audiences and winning multiple international competitions including the 2011 Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, pianist Daniil Trifonov makes his NAC Orchestra debut with Liszt’s demanding First Piano Concerto, a work premiered by Liszt himself with Berlioz conducting. Tchaikovsky’s heart-wrenching Pathétique Symphony, premiered days before the composer’s untimely death, contains a palate of emotions expressing the joy of life to a poignant farewell. Maestro Zukerman undertakes this powerful work for the first time before NAC Orchestra audiences.
