Beethoven’s playful Eighth Symphony is known for its “metronome” movement—a tribute to a then-new time-keeping gadget (there’s an app for that, you know). So keep your eyes on Maestro John Storgårds’s pulsing baton. Our Concertmaster and Benjamin Hochman perform a rarely heard double concerto by the precocious 14 year-old Mendelssohn.
