Teenaged Kimberly is coping with a hypochondriac mother, a rarely sober father, an ex-con aunt planning the ultimate scam, and the possibility of first love with her nerdy high school classmate, all while negotiating her own mortality as a rare condition causes her to age five times faster than normal.
