Internationally renowned Flamenco artist María Pagés is a bold, uninhibited innovator, recognized for infusing contemporary movement and music into the traditional dance form. Her Autorretrato originated out of a challenge from luminary artist Mikhail Baryshnikov, who commissioned a work that would not only showcase Pagés as a dancer and creator, but as a human being on a personal journey. The resulting self-portrait is a touching, poetic, and humorous vision of the artist. A gifted company of seven dancers, including Pagés herself, and six musicians bring raw emotion and ferocious discipline to the stage.
