Bear & Co. is pleased to present Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? , the award-winning, torrid tale of seduction and betrayal by Edward Albee. The play runs from April 6-16 at the Gladstone Theatre.

Ian Farthing returns to Ottawa from Vancouver to direct this witty, dark, classic piece of American Theatre. Farthing, formerly the Artistic Director of the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival in Prescott, ON and now acting and directing in Vancouver, says "as a director, the opportunity to work with such a strong cast on this modern classic is the sort of project one relishes." Rachel Eugster is Martha, Paul Rainville is George, Grace Gordon is Honey and Cory Thibert is Nick.

Rachel Eugster notes that it's been 33 years since a professional production of this award-winning, sexually-charged play has been performed for Ottawa/Gatineau audiences. "It is a timeless portrayal of the humanity, humour and love between this angry, smart couple who feel trapped by their life choices."

'Ultimately, it's a love story as told by Edward Albee which means audiences are buying a ticket on a roller coaster", adds Paul Rainville.

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf debuted on Broadway in 1962 and won the Tony Award and the New York Drama Critics' Award for Best Play. The 1966 movie, directed by Mike Nichols and starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, won 5 Oscars.
