Have you ever been to a Choir! Choir! Choir! show? I went to see them at the 47th Edition of the Montreal Jazz Festival to give you an idea of what to expect when they perform at Ottawa Bluesfest later this month.

Canada's own Choir! Choir! Choir! knows their audience. Opening to Bon Jovi's "Livin' On A Prayer" got the crowd's energy going immediately. Montreallers love to sing at concerts, so the audience didn't need any prompting to sing along. For the uninitiated, Choir! Choir! Choir! hosts karaoke-style sing-alongs. With the lyrics projected onto a large screen at the back of the stage, Daveed Goldman and Nobu Adilman divide the audience into a chorus and harmony section to give the songs even more depth. They deliberately selected popular songs from the likes of Fleetwood Mac and The Proclaimers so that the audience had a good baseline. Then they incorporated gestures and movements to make it even more fun to participate. Our voices blended together to create a beautiful, inclusive choir, regardless of skill level.

For a feel-good time, I recommend you check out Choir! Choir! Choir!'s upcoming show at Ottawa Bluesfest on July 19th at 1:40 p.m. on the RBC stage at Lebreton Flats. You'll laugh, you'll sing, and you'll walk out feeling a little better about the world through the power of togetherness. The best part? It's completely free!
