DWARVES AND DARK PLACES to Open at Ottawa Fringe Festival
Owlbear Theatre's production stars Melissa Raftis and Jack Dillabough at uOttawa's Studio 2201.
From June 18-28th Owlbear Theatre will produce Dwarves and Dark Places: A fantasy clown show about dwarves in haunted mines, at the Ottawa Fringe Festival. The show will take place in Studio 2201 in Ottawa's Labo building, 60 Waller st, also accessible through the OAG and Arts Court. The show features Melissa Raftis and Jack Dillabough, with voiceover by Sarah McKay. The show was written and directed by Ian McMullen.
Dwarves and Dark Places is a clown show for fantasy lovers of all ages. Fans of Dungeons & Dragons, Lord of the Rings, World of Warcraft, etc, will love this epic and hilarious play. As the Dwarven heroes explore haunted mines the lights are kept off. Audiences are encouraged to bring and use flashlights wherever and whenever they wish, this creates a unique, immersive performance. The show will have you laughing, crying, and laughing until you cry.
Owlbear Theatre was founded in 2025 by Ian McMullen and Sarah McKay. The company's mandate is to tell fantasy stories using highly visual forms of theatre. Owlbear brings together aspects of clown, stage combat, and dance to create a unique and exciting style of physical theatre.
