Theater on the Edge will present SUPERIOR DONUTS by Tracy Letts, running tonight, June 9, 2017 to Sunday, July 2, 2017.

Arthur Przybyszewski owns a decrepit donut shop in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago. Franco Wicks, a black teenager who is his only employee, wants to change the shop for the better. This comedy-drama by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Tracy Letts explores the challenges of embracing the past and the redemptive power of friendship.

The world premiere of Superior Donuts was staged by the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago in 2008, and it premiered on Broadway in 2009.

Recently, Superior Donuts was adapted into an American sitcom for CBS, starring Judd Hirsch, Jermaine Fowler, and Katey Sagal.

Superior Donuts is a two-act play, and its run time is approximately 2.5 hours with one intermission. Because of the colorful dialogue, drug use, violence, and adult themes, we recommend the play for ages 17 and above.
