The Garden Theatre first introduced the StarLite Film Festival in 2012 with an attendance of 900. In 2013, there were three visiting filmmakers from New York, Los Angeles and Mexico City. Audiences were excited to hear comments by keynote speaker, Robin Cowie, the producer of the famous and wildly successful micro-budget film The Blair Witch Project. The 2013 festival also saw a new way to give back to the community with filmmakers sharing their experience with students at Dr. Phillips High School.

This one-of-a-kind StarLite Film Festival highlights micro-budget movies from around the world produced, shot and directed for under $200,000. The film festival is named after the original StarLite Drive-in Theater built in 1949. Celebrate the essence of micro-budget filmmaking with memorable movie screenings, entertaining workshops, fun parties, national and international filmmakers, and much more.
