Mad Cow Theatre Announces Cast Of RAPTURE, BLISTER, BURN. Mad Cow Theatre presents Rapture, Blister, Burn, the 2013 Pulitzer Prize finalist from House of Cards and Pulitzer nominated writer Gina Gionfriddo, for its Zehngebot-Stonerock Theatre season opener. Gionfriddo has received an Obie Award, the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, the Helen Merrill Award for Emerging Playwrights and a Guggenheim Fellowship. With blazing wit, this new comedy takes a tantalizing look at family, career, romance and the decisions made that may define one's life. The New York Times calls Rapture, Blister, Burn "intensely smart and immensely funny," and has been called "a smart, funny, and lightning-paced look at feminism" by The New York Daily News. The show's run begins on Friday, October 26, 2018 and plays through Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Mad Cow Theatre in downtown Orlando.

Rapture, Blister, Burn centers on three generations of women, girlfriends Catherine and Gwen, who chose dramatically different paths after graduate school. Catherine built a career as a rock-star academic. Gwen became a homemaker. Decades later, when Catherine returns home to live with her ailing mother, each woman covets the other's life. And so commences a radical game of musical chairs-the prize being Gwen's Peter Pan-like husband, Don.

"Rapture, Blister, Burn is a masterful exploration of feminism in practice", says Mitzi Maxwell, Mad Cow Theatre's executive director. "This engaging production is sure to stoke important conversations over coffee after the show and gives voice to the very important dialogue happening in our country today."

Cynthia Beckert* (Grounded, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, The God Game) and Sarah French (The Big Meal, Clybourne Park, Kid Simple) will take on the two women at the center of this critically acclaimed play, Catherine and Gwen. Shami McCormick* (Three Sisters, The Big Meal and Pygmalion) plays the role of Alice, Catherine's mother. Joining them will be Patrick Brezyan* as Don and Devan Seaman as Avery in their Mad Cow debuts.

The creative team includes Monica Long Tamborello as director (Grounded), Casey Marshall Price, lighting designer (Silent Sky - set), Janine Papin, costume design (Born Yesterday, Silent Sky, A View From the Bridge), Gabriella Petro, sound designer (Buyer and Cellar, The Royal Family) and in their Mad Cow debuts Kyle Ransbottom, set designer and Kaitlyn Harrington, stage manager.

Rapture, Blister, Burn runs October 26 to November 18 in the Zehngebot-Stonerock Theatre at Mad Cow Theatre 54 W. Church Street (second floor) in downtown Orlando. (Click here for directions). Performances are at 8:00 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and 3:00 p.m. Sundays, with additional performances on Saturday, November 3 at 3:00 p.m. and Wednesday, November 14 at 8:00 p.m.
