MADAGASCAR Is Now Playing At Orlando REP

By:

MADAGASCAR Is Now Playing At Orlando REP ImageOrlando Repertory Theatre (Orlando REP) is proud to present Madagascar - A Musical Adventure (February 23 - April 8, 2018). This production is presented by the Universal Orlando Foundation and supporting sponsors Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and DesignZillas.

Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, and Gloria the hip Hippo, four pampered animals from New York's Central Park Zoo, as they accidentally find themselves shipwrecked on the exotic island of Madagascar. They discover it really IS a jungle out there! Throw in mischievous penguins and legions of lemurs, and you are in for a roaring good time in this musical adventure! Based on the blockbuster DreamWorks film, Kevin Del Aguila wrote the book with original music and lyrics by George Noriega and Joel Someillan.

"All season, Orlando REP has focused on why are we telling the stories we tell," says Orlando REP's artistic director, Jeff Revels. "Madagascar - A Musical Adventure is fun and entertaining, and also has some important messages packed within an exuberant hour of song and dance. There are themes of recognizing one's true self, the importance of people in one's life, as well as the highly relevant concept of colliding cultures. This is why this show serves multiple purposes - it is a wildly fun story about characters we have come to know over the years, and it speaks to wider issues that we are confronting today."

Madagascar - A Musical Adventure plays Saturdays and Sundays from February 26 through April 8, 2018 at 2pm and 5:30pm. Tickets are $25 for adults, $18 for students, seniors (55+), and members of the military with valid ID, and $15 for youth (ages 3 to 17).

Orlando REP also offers special performances of Madagascar - A Musical Adventure. There is a Sensory-Friendly performance for audiences with autism and other sensory-processing needs on Sunday, March 11 at 5:30pm, and an ASL performance, translated by an American Sign Language Interpreter, on Monday, March 12 at 10:30am. Backstage Tours are offered on March 17 and 31 following the 5:30pm performance. Tickets are $5 per person and space is limited, so make sure you reserve your spot early in advance at the Box Office!

The cast features Alina Alcantara, Max Herskovitz, Bryan Jager, Kayla Lopez, Justin Mousseau, Stephen Pugh, Ellie Roddy, Matt Rothenberg, Joel Swanson, and Stephanie Trull. Madagascar - A Musical Adventure is directed by Steve MacKinnon, with choreography by Spencer Morrow, scenic design by Cindy White, costume design by Tan Huaixiang, lighting design by Alyx Jacobs and associate lighting designer Andrew Mulkey, sound design by Anthony Narciso, props design by Tara Kromer, and stage management by Jessica Lyn Karnes.
