Gen Y Productions presents the Florida premiere of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play The Flick, written by Annie Baker. The Flick will play at the Alexis and Jim Pugh Theater at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts June 19 through July 12.

Set in a rundown movie theater in central Massachusetts, The Flick tells the story of three underpaid employees who mop the floors and attend to one of the last 35-millimeter film projectors in the state. Their tiny battles and not-so-tiny heartbreaks play out in the empty aisles, becoming more gripping than the lackluster, second-run movies on screen. With keen insight and a finely tuned comic eye, The Flick is a hilarious and heart-rending cry for authenticity in a fast-changing world.

"I'm grateful to be able to bring such a unique and beautiful story to the Alexis and Jim Pugh Theater as the first full length local theatrical production to take the stage at the Dr. Phillips Center," said producer Aaron Safer. "The Flick tells a captivating tale that will resonate with both theater and movie lovers alike."

Following its Off-Broadway debut in 2013, The Flick received the 2013 Obie Award for Playwriting and the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The Florida Premiere at the Dr. Phillips Center is directed by Kenny Howard and produced by Aaron Safer, Managing Member of Gen Y Productions, with set design by Bonnie Sprung, and lighting design by Roy Brown.

Tickets to The Flick go on sale April 9 and can be purchased at DrPhillipsCenter.org. Ticket prices range from $35 to $60.
