Burt Reynolds Institute Returns to former BRITT Location
The Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre (BRIFT) announced the offering of acting and film making classes at ArtStage Performing Arts Center in Tequesta beginning in September. BRIFT, a non-profit dedicated to educating and involving the community in all aspects of the performing arts, had been looking for temporary office and classroom space while fundraising to build a new Institute in Burt Reynolds Park. The ArtStage location is ideal as it was once home to The Burt Reynolds Institute for Theatre Training (BRITT). Returning to the Tequesta is an opportunity to blend fond memories with artistic development for students attending both BRIFT and ArtStage classes.
Mega star Burt Reynolds said that the partnership between BRIFT and ArtStage is proof that the phrase ?You can’t go home again’ is untrue. “Walls may not be able to talk,” Reynolds said, “but I do believe they can smile. I have no doubt we will be making as many good memories now as we did years ago.”
Linda White, Artistic Director of ArtStage, also expressed her excitement at the joint venture. “The Burt Reynolds Institute at ArtStage is a dream come true. I am overjoyed that the talents of such an amazing actor as Burt Reynolds will once again bring this old building to life.”
Douglas Rill, Chair of BRIFT, announced that a search committee is focused on finding a new location for Mr. Reynolds’ vast collection of Hollywood memorabilia as well as performance venues in the area. Anyone who would like to offer space is asked to call Mr. Rill at 561 252-2726 or email douglasrill@gmail.com.
ArtStage, which offers acting, singing and dancing lessons for students of all ages, is located at 304 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida 33469. For information regarding classes offered by the Burt Reynolds Institute, please contact Donna Carbone at 561 385-1584 or write classes@brift.org.
