When you are standing up on that stage, you enter an alternate reality. The lines you are saying, the motions you are making; they become real. You are transported into this world. It is an experience like no other- an experience which many people never get the pleasure of experiencing.

When someone asks me why I act, I tell him or her about this feeling, this alternative universe that thrills me, as I am able to be someone entirely new and different than I am. I am able to become someone else, not just act. They leave our conversation two ways: either desperately confused and probably believing I am insane, or with peaked interest- wanting to know more and understand this feeling.

I encourage anyone and everyone to try acting just once. Yes, you may not be good at it, but then again, no one is his or her first time. Some people have more natural tendencies, but the Greats all have worked for their status- as anyone who is good at something have done. It doesn't matter, however, that you are not the best. You still can experience it- you still can become someone else for a bit; and that is what is exciting about it.

This isn't a long post for a reason: it's purpose is to encourage any of you who have never acted before to try it once, and I believe that you don't need a long essay to give you the many reasons your should try it. You only need this one: acting can transport you into your own "alternate reality", allow you to become someone else for a time, which is exciting, daring, and adventurous. It can inspire you, teach you, and transform you as a person, and I wouldn't pass up that opportunity for the world.
