Disney's THE LION KING continues to reign across North America with a sold-out, record-breaking engagement in Omaha which concluded on Sunday, April 7, at the Orpheum Theater. The return four-week run grossed $5,621,022 million at the box office and entertained more than 79,000 patrons, breaking the Orpheum Theater's house record and making it the highest-grossing theatrical production in Omaha history. This bests the previous Orpheum Theater record, also set by THE LION KING, when this production grossed $5,506,480 during its five-week engagement in 2007.

It is estimated that the Omaha engagement of THE LION KING generated a $19 million economic benefit to the city from travel, hotels, restaurants, parking and other businesses patronized by both theatergoers and production staff. This figure is based upon a Touring Broadway League report which found that, on average, Broadway tours contribute an economic impact 3.5 times the gross ticket sales to the local metropolitan area's economy.

"We're thrilled that Disney's THE LION KING has set the Orpheum Theater record for ticket sales," Joan Squires, Omaha Performing Arts president said. "Most of all, we were delighted to be able to bring this incredible production back to Omaha and are overwhelmed with the audience response," she continued. "We're grateful to Disney Theatrical Productions and THE LION KING Company for this spectacular production, along with our partners at Broadway Across America for their assistance with this return engagement. This success demonstrates Omaha's desire to attend the finest touring Broadway shows and it helps with booking future productions."

"We are truly overwhelmed by how warmly the Omaha community has once again embraced THE LION KING," said Jack Eldon, Vice President, Domestic, Disney Theatrical Productions. "It is incredible to reflect that the response to this production was just as strong as when it premiered in Omaha six years ago in 2007. We thank the city of Omaha for another sensational engagement and look forward to someday returning to this fantastic city."

The North American touring production of THE LION KING has been seen by more than 14 million theatergoers and grossed over $983 million to date. After 10 years on the road, THE LION KING continues to celebrate unparalleled achievements and delight new audiences throughout North America. The current schedule is listed below.
