Rose Performing Arts Presents SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN, 12/26-30
"The main lesson kids will take away from this story is that giving from the heart makes life better for everybody because each time a gift is exchanged during the production, a character's life improves," said director Kevin Ehrhart. "Children will also be fascinated to pick up on Santa Claus' back-story and put their wonderfully imaginative ideas of him in a concrete setting."
Jim Hoggatt adapted the well-loved tale for the stage earlier this year. "He did a fantastic job bringing the story to life," said Ehrhart.
The charming script is accompanied by impressive sets, strategic lighting and beautiful costumes. William E.P. Davis has designed a set that can transport audiences to six locations quickly and seamlessly with the help of Liz Kendall Weisser's lighting design. Callyann Casteel's bright, fun costumes will enhance each of those spaces, too. These places include the Winter Warlock's Mountain of Whispering Winds, Tanta Kringle's house, the Winter Warlock's castle, Sombertown town square, a house in Sombertown and the Sombertown dungeon.
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town will be presented Sunday, December 26 through Thursday, December 30, with daily shows at 2 p.m. Additional shows will be offered at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday; and 7 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Interpretation for the hearing impaired will be offered at the 7 p.m. performance on Tuesday, December 28. The production is recommended for ages 4 to 12 and will run 60 minutes without intermission.
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town to make Christmas last a few days longer this year. On the main stage at The Rose, December 26 to 30, this lighthearted, magical holiday production based on the traditional tale will put a smile on faces of all ages and remind everyone about the value of giving.
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town follows Kris Kringle and his animal friends on a journey to save Christmas for the boys and girls of Sombertown - a place where toys have been outlawed! They venture through the Dismal Forest into the realm of Burgmeister Meisterberger to turn the Winter Warlock's frown upside down and make a happy ending for everyone.
Tickets are $16 and may be purchased at The Rose Box Office, located at 2001 Farnam Street, by telephone at (402) 345-4849 or online at www.rosetheater.org.
