Bellevue Little Theatre, 203 W. Mission Ave. in Olde Towne Bellevue, will open the 49th season with the musical "Little Shop of Horrors", on Friday Sept 15, closing on Sunday, Oct. 1.

This production is not recommended for children.

D. Laureen Pickle is the stage director, with music direction by Chris Ebke, and choreography by Kerri Jo Richardson-Watts, who is also producer for this musical. Melissa Carnahan is stage director; lighting design by Joey Lorincz; sound design and properties done by Pam Matney; Lindsay Pape is in charge of costumes; Meg Latta is accompanist.

This musical premiered on Broadway in 1982 and recounts the tale of young Seymour Krelborn who is secretly in love with Audrey, a seemingly unattainable young woman.

Seymour purchases a small plant which is altered by an eclipse of the sun and suddenly requires human blood to survive. Audrey II, the plant, named in honor of Seymour's secret love, grows and increases in size and needs more and more blood to thrive---but problems develop when the plant becomes uncontrollable.

Throw in a mad dentist, a trio of lovely singers, and unusual characters, and the scene is set for an unusual musical.
