'An Evening with John Patrick Shanley' Set for TU's Lorton Hall Lecture Hall, 2/17
Oscar winner (for "Moonstruck"), Pulitzer, Golden Globe and Tony Award winner (for "Doubt") John Patrick Shanley will present an evening of readings and commentary on Wednesday, February 17th, in TU's Lorton Hall Lecture Hall (room 207), 7-9 p.m., with audience Q&A and book-signing to follow.
This event is free and open to the public.
Mr. Shanley is well-known for his highly original writing as well as his deeply engaging speaking style. He is a New Yorker (Bronx-born) through and through, from a blue collar family, and brings that sensibility to provide a mix of humor, candor and insight to every topic.
Shanley's successful theatre career has spanned nearly thirty years, beginning with the breakout hit Danny and the Deep Blue Sea in 1983. His film debut was with Moonstruck in 1988, followed by the screenplays for Five Corners, The January Man and Joe vs. the Volcano. His 2002 TV
script, Live From Baghdad, received an Emmy nomination for best teleplay.
Mr. Shanley's visit is supported by a Donald J. Feagin grant, through the University of Tulsa Henry Kendall College of Arts and Sciences.
