On Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 9:30pm, Old Pros, a non profit media organization working to change the status of sex workers in society, is putting on a show! Expect an unforgettable evening with stand up comics and burlesque performers. Old Pros content creator and stand up comic, Irene Merrow will be hosting the event.
To start off the show, the audience will enjoy a set from Caitlin Reese (she/they), a Queens-based comedian and writer who does not pull any punches about her mental health, disabilities, or chronic gay condition. Following the first act is Brooklyn-based comedian Shalewa Sharpe who developed her sly yet goofy style in Atlanta, where she was raised. She has been praised as a 2019 Vulture Comic To Watch and has appeared on HBO, Comedy Central, Showtime, and Peacock. Ending the first act is Myq Kaplan, self described as “a comedian named Myq Kaplan.” Myq has appeared on the Tonight Show, Conan, Letterman, James Corden, Seth Meyers, Comedy Central, Last Comic Standing, and America’s Got Talent - and now the Old Pros Show!
Starting off the second half of the show is Maggie McMuffin, a millennial multi-hyphenate, Maggie is a burlesque performer, co-producer of Last Chance Dancers, core member of Hot Fix Sideshow, and, oh yeah, The Reigning Miss Coney Island. Following up Maggie is Klondyke, an experimental musical theater composer, member of Haus of Quench and winner of Cakeboys 2021 Takes the Cake Competition. They are here to terrorize norms out of existence through the great unifier, MUSIC! The last act will be a surprise for the audience, check out Old Pros’ Instagram and Twitter (@oldprosonline) to hear more about the show!
Please hang out after the show to meet the team and to learn more about the work Old Pros is doing to change the story about sex work.
